Wishing you a wonderful Christmas

As we’re poised between the end of one year and the start of a new one, we naturally reflect on how we have travelled and how we might adjust things for the year ahead.
As my children mature into adulthood, the concept of sharing and giving as well as receiving is being brought into greater focus. One of the first “observances” in Yoga is that of contentment which, hand in hand with gratitude, is a wonderful way to steer one’s way through the Christmas season and maintain a peaceful frame of mind. And as we go about giving gifts to our friends and families, remembering that one of the best gifts we can give is Kindness will bring greater joy to the occasion.
CHRISTMAS WISHES
Poised as we are ‘tween this year and the next
We now ponder on how we have done
Are we happy or feeling somewhat vexed?
Was our year filled with pain or with fun?
Christmas is here and upon us once more
When we give and we share and enjoy
And we hope no hostility comes to the fore
Let’s stay calm and try not to annoy!
As we sally forth to our families and friends
Full of gifts and our pleasant intentions
We start off with love and hope that’s how it ends
Let’s maintain our goodwill with no tensions
And as we reflect on the year that’s gone by
Have we reached all of our aspirations?
There may have been things that made us cry
But next year we can change those sensations
By being content with our efforts thus far
Let unpleasant experiences dissolve
As the next year begins one can raise the bar
Start afresh with a whole new resolve
But for now let’s enjoy our Christmas and vow
To be giving and kind - that’s the reason
That we try to improve; Try to “be here now”
And sustain it throughout the whole season.
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year. Wishing you all a Christmas filled with contentment, kindness and joy.
