Yoga Australia Membership

In 2013 I also became a member of Yoga Australia and regularly attend their annual conferences.  Yoga Australia is the peak body for Yoga in Australia.

Whilst attending the 2014 conference held at Olympic Park at Homebush, New South Wales, I met Michael de Manicor from The Yoga Institute, located at Cammeray, NSW, and was inspired to undertake further teacher training with him.  The Institute espouses the teachings of T.K.V. Desikachar, son and student of Krishnamacharya, and the training I received really helped consolidate my knowledge and understanding of traditional, integrated Yoga.  This, along with further studies and guidance from Michael de Manicor, has motivated me to set up my own Yoga studio.

After completing over five years and over 500 hours of teaching experience, I have now registered as a Level 2 Yoga Teacher with Yoga Australia.

Yoga Teacher Training for Children

After being approached to take a children’s Yoga class at a local Primary School, I decided to further my training to obtain appropriate qualifications. During 2016, I undertook training with Loraine Rushton from Zenergy Yoga, starting with the Kids Teacher Training Foundation Course, followed by Yoga Therapy for Children and finishing with the Advanced Training Course for Teaching Children.  Since then, I have been teaching children’s yoga classes at a couple of schools, Primary and Secondary.

Ongoing Training

In 2016 I attended a three day specialised postgraduate course, Yoga Psychology for Yoga Teachers, facilitated by Michael de Manicor and Janet Lowndes at the Pinelands Yoga Studio north of Brisbane.  2017 was an intense year of training when I attended three courses organised by the Yoga and Integrative Medicine Institute (YIMI).  These included a two day Yoga Nidra Workshop conducted by Swami Muktibodhananda, a world-class exponent of the Satyananda Yoga system; a two day Meditation Teacher Training Course conducted by Celia Roberts, Senior Yoga Teacher and co-founder of YIMI;   and a two day Teacher Training Workshop on Yoga Psychology and Spiritual Development conducted by Leanne Davis, Senior Yoga Teacher and President of Yoga Australia and Yoga New Zealand.  I also attended a six day Teacher Training Course on Yin Yoga with Markus Giess, Yin Yoga and Anatomy Teacher.

During 2018 I achieved registration as a Level 2 Yoga Teacher with Yoga Australia and completed the YIMI 100 hour Meditation Teacher Training Course. I also became a qualified member of Meditation Association of Australia, the national peak body representing meditation and meditation teachers.
